Worst movie sequels to a good movie?

All right. You know the routine...a Hollywood studio makes a good movie (Airport, Jaws, Rocky, Superman, First Blood, et cetera, and if it becomes a big hit, the "suits" ask for a sequel or series of sequels to keep milking the cash cow for all it's worth.

Sometimes, as in the case of Superman, the first sequel is almost as good as, and sometimes better than, the original flick, then the quality starts declining until the "series" gets silly and no sane person wants to watch any more follow-ups.

To me, the worst sequels to good movies are:

Jaws 2, 3, and 4

Airport '77 and Airport '79

Rambo III

Superman III and IV

Rocky IV, Rocky V, and Rocky Balboa

Jurassic Park III

Any others?

You have listed almost all that came my mind, but somehow I did like the most of the Rocky movies.

Worst Movie Sequels Ever

I could go on and on about the movies that should have stopped at the original or even at part two, but nope, some greedy people decided to keep pushing it until they bombed. Here are some that make my list of the worst of the worst :

1) The NEXT Karate Kid: Part three was bad enough, but this one was just ridiculous. I love Miyagi but enough is enough.

2) Legally Blonde 2 : I loved the first one so much that I actually gave this one a chance....very disappointed that I did .

3) Dumb and Dumberer : How could ANYONE replace the chemistry of Jim Carry and Jeff Daniels in the original? This movie is absurd. If you have not seen it, please do not waste your time.

4) Dirty Dancing (Havana Nights) : I admit I didn't watch this one, but that's only because NO ONE, I mean NO ONE, could ever replace Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze. As far as romance movies, it doesn't get much better than the original, and it was such a classic that even if the main stars came back, they would never be able to make another Dirty Dancing as well as the first one.

Argghh, sorry Fardreamer, I wish I had seen this thread before I started one similar to this. Admin, is there a way to merge these together?

I do have to disagree about about Rocky IV though. In fact there was a recent poll taken and over a million people put IV as the 2nd best Rocky movie, with the original being the best. I couldn't get enough of Draaggooo. Rocky V I do agree on. That was just plain horrible. I liked Rocky Balboa ok. It wasn't as good as the original of course, but it did finally give some closure to the Rocky story.

Worst Sequels Ever?

The entire Jaws series after Steven Spielberg's original blockbuster wowed us in 1975. All the sequels suck, and the worst thing is that Spielberg, who has nothing to do with them, is blamed for the sins of Universal Studios' suits, who approved them.

The same goes for Airport 1975, Airport '77, and Airport '79. The first one was kind of cheesy, but it was bearable. The others...ugh.

Rocky, Rocky 2, Rocky 3, Rocky 4 and Rocky Balboa are the worst movies in existence. Although, there are so many movies that are insults to the word. I hate cheesey movies, kids movies, chick flicks, typical teen movies and "its all ok in the end" movies. The worst sequal in the world has to be high scool musical 2! I hate it with a passion!

Not to put too fine a point on this, and I'm definitely not going to be argumentative, but given the list of movie genres you don't like, I'm kind of curious about what you do enjoy.

Some of the movies I like can be considered cheesy...some people say Star Wars can be cheesy at times, and I think it was meant to be so....

I like, comedy, horror, sci-fi, action and fantasy. When I say cheesy, I mean they pour it on thick. Over cheesy, I can watch star wars no problems, parts are cheesy to some extent, but not every 5 mins with a cheesy overload. I don't like rom-coms, soppy or romantic movies. Just to add them to the list

I actually enjoy a good "cheese" movie every now and then. What I dislike is when a great movie is made, and just for the purpose of making money, a horrible sequel is made.

Cool

The sequels to Rocky pathetic?????? Hold on!!!! I would rather say that Rocky Balboa the last part as of yet is the best.I found terminator 3 to be a bad sequel when you compare it to T2.

Threds Merged. I had to go offline because my laptop broke but its again. I just thought of another. Alien 3, The worst movie in the Alien Quadrilogy. Aliens was awsome, but Alien 3 sucked, hard.
