Looks like an attempt to cover the forums back if legal issues were to arrise but to be perfectly honestly it wouldn't make much odds if the source was added or not. Maybe there is another reason?
Yeah. It looks like just a precautionary measure on their part. It is better if they take care beforehand rather than thinking about it once the damage is done.
