In looking at the threads/topics here, I see a lot of references to hip-hop/pop/rock/contemporary artists ranging from Katy Perry to boy bands a la New Kids on the Block and their successors, but very few about other genres (country-Western, jazz, New Age, or even, egads, classical). Is it fair to say that this is a reflection of the times, do members have other genres they like but are shy about discussing them, or do people just like what's current these days?

Me? I like some of today's stuff just fine, but being perhaps one of the older members I tend to feel more at ease with music from the 1950s (before my time), the 1960s (when I was little) and the 1970s (when I was an adolescent). I also like classical music - not all but most - and film music.

What about you guys?

10% Pop, 5% Folk, 75% Rock and 5% Country. 5% goes to others including classical music. There's too much genres now that I have trouble classifying music. Apparently I'm into a lot of Piano Rock.

I like Metal. It's just my thing. I also like rap and techno

I am a music freak, I love all kinds of good music, along with the rest I am very fond of good old country music.Its my passion.Whenever I listen to those numbers I get carried along with.

....I really enjoy listening to REGGAE music! I love the beat and the rhythm. One of my favorite reggae songs is "three little birds" from ingenious Bob Marley.

Did someone say JAZZ? Yes! then I would say Frank Sinatra. Did any one hear him? He's master of jazz.

Jazz, though none of that contempory stuff. I tend to play it on sax instead of blues etc.
