Do you think a man and a woman can truly be "just friends" or it is always a situation of at least one of the two hoping that the friendship will lead to a relationship?

I always hear that there is no possibility that a guy and a girl can be just friends without one or the other wanting more, but I don't buy it one bit. One of my best friends is a straight guy and we have been nothing but just friends with each other. He's married with a newborn now and we are still just as good of friends as when we were both single.

I have seen such cases as yours as well, but I also see that they are very rare. Usually, it is either the situation of one of the two secretly admiring the other and hoping for more, or the guy has made his love declaration, the girl refused, and the guy settled for "just friendship."

I think it is pretty unusual, if not impossible for a man and a woman to stay truly "just friends". If not out in the open, at least one of the two usually has a secret "more than friends" liking for the other.

i think there are few of people who an be just friends until the end. but friendship may always lead to a deeper relationship. it depends with the person.

I have a very good example of how there's usually more under the surface. I have these two friends, a guy and a girl. They are both married, and not to each other. They are friends. They have a similar hobby, so they call and email each other regularly. You'd think this is a perfect example of "just friendship"... But, no. I have found out that the guy was in love with her and had proposed when they both were single, but she had declined. So while they are just friends now, there was more to it in the beginning.
