Grammy-winning artist Beyonce stressed that what she has with Jay-Z is real and not about the media spectacle.

"What Jay and I have is real. It's not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It's real," she said in an interview with Essence magazine.

The couple got married in a top-secret ceremony in April and have shared little information about this union.

Beyonce said in the interview that she never even wanted an engagement ring because it would spark more media frenzy.
