Lack of Gay Star Support for against Proposition 8

Proposition 8 is a an amendment that will outlaw Gay Marriage in California and Gay activists are fighting against it. So far, the biggest reported A-list supporter was only Brad Pitt who shelled out $100,000K to fight the proposition. Pitt is straight, but other ‘openly’ gay stars have yet to lend hand.

Ellen Degeneres and partner Portia DeRossi who were recently married have not yet pledged in their support against prop 8. Neither has Sir Elton John and Rossie O’Donnell. Marc Cherry of Desperate housewives has also failed to give support.

Reps for the group against Prop 8 had this to say.

“We have raised a record $11 million to fight Prop 8. Unfortunately, the other side has raised $16 million and is raising money at a feverish pace. We need to catch up and match them dollar for dollar. With an expected 13 million voters and the most expensive media markets in the nation, it takes tens of millions of dollars to get your message out. If we can get our message out at the same rate as they can, I believe we will win. But if they continue to have more resources, it will be very difficult for us to prevail.”

Didnt the supreme court just make some rulings a while ago in some states saying that they could not bad gay marriage, or am I thinking about something else.

I personally dont see what the big deal is about gay marriage. I mean the people who are against it, seriously, how is two guys or two girls getting married going to hurt them. It appears to me that antigay marriage people are just trying to go on a power spree.
