Sleep after meals.

I have observed that many people just tend to doze off after they finish their meals. It is not advisable to do so, you make it sure that their has to be a proper gap between the two.

They say to eat at least 30 - 45 minutes before sleeping for health reasons but to be honest over the last 2 years we have been snacking before sleeping and I am losing weight so figure that one LOL and I am not exercising or doing anything different other than using olive oil to cook with! but also during Ramamdan my other half will get up for breakfast and then go back to sleep - it seems to have done nothing wrong for him

I always get sleepy after a meal but I rarely sleep right after. But I have noticed that if I do eat and then sleep right after, I have the worst nightmares! Why do you think that happens?

I don't really care - I sleep when I feel like sleeping sometimes before and sometimes after.

I think there are certain foods that can cause nightmares or trigger parts of the brain, I am sure I heard cheese can do this - but cant remember now?

After lunch at work, I take my nap to boost energy for another four hour work until the time we go home. I think taking a nap is good but nicest thing is sleeping after meals. There’ a big difference but I prefer sleeping but I don’t get the chance because I have to work.

I can eat 10 mins before sleeping and be absolutely fine. It probably depends on the person.

I need to allow my digestive system to work after I eat and before I get some sleep. Otherwise I too have nightmares. Is it perhaps because the digestive system isn't being allowed to work properly? Or was it the horrible dinner we had?

This used to be my downfall in college. I'd have lunch and then go to class and fall asleep. Wasn't good for my grades. I finally figure out that I'd have lunch, take a quick power nap and I was good to go.

The second reason could be the one, that happens with my son too.He will wake up in the morning and tell me that he could not sleep the whole night as I had served terrible dinner.Ha Ha !! He is a real spoilt brat.If not two hrs, which is ideal gap, one should at least give an hours gap.

Are you serious? Is it in some journal or something that I can read? I've always related sleeping right after a meal to swimming right after a meal.

I've never heard of this before? What about countries where they have siestas after a meal? I'd be interested in reading about this if you could provide some sources.

Having food almost always gets everyone sleepy right after the meal, but the best practice is go for a short walk after the meal and then carry on with your routine, whether it is sleep of not.
