Restaurants you avoid

Are there any particular types of restaurants you avoid? Maybe it's places that serve a type of ethnic food? Maybe certain chain restaurants?

When I travel to another city, I often search the web for restaurants the locals go to so I can sample local cuisines so in that sense, I avoid any chain restaurant when possible.

I also avoid the national restaurants that sell "chinese" food, e.g., PF Changs, Panda Express, etc., because it's never close to what I ate when I was growing up in San Francisco's Chinatown.

We usually go to very selected places to eat out, we are not the types who keep on trying new joints every time.We have fixed places where we like to move and eat.One place I really don't like is Mac Donald and KFC, but sometimes my brats drag me to these places.

Oh yeah, places to avoid are food places that sell food that is suppose to taste like some specific cuisine. You know what I'm talking about, like Taco Bell. No way it tastes like Mexican food.

Cool

The only restaurants I avoid are those japanese restaurants that are just too expensive. I mean you can always make your own sushi and sashimi at just a fraction of the price some japanese restaurants sell it for. Fresh fish are always available in local wet markets and you can always be sure that it really is a fresh catch.

What you say is really true. However, the secret to really good sushi, besides the freshness of the fish, is the quality of the rice. It takes great skill to mix the correct amount of rice vinegar while allowing the rice to cool at the correct speed. That's what you are paying for...the skill of the sushi chef.

Fish is extremely delicate. And it should always be fresh, whether you eat it at a fine restaurant or make it at home. Try and prepare your fish dish, especially sushi, the same day you buy the fish.
