This is the famous Spanish tradition when visitors and townspeople spending hours throwing tomatoes at one another.

This happens in Bunol Spain on the last Wed in August.

I may be able to join in the fun coming Aug when I am in Spain.

I have watched this event number of times on TV,what is the basic concept of this. To me it seems quite amusing and thrilling.And what about the prices of tomatoes,do they shoot up and how the place is cleaned of such a mess???

It is just cheap and dirty fun I suppose. Instead of throwing ketchup to simulate blood, you throw tomatoes!

I've seen pictures of that too! It's seems like pretty harmless fun to me and a good way to let off steam. Better than throwing rocks at each other anyway!
