Hair straightening can be temporary or permanent. The former lasts for about a week and is for special occasions. The latter, however, lasts around an year or so with proper care.

Rusty is on a distinguished road
Wanna trade? Give me your curls and you can have my straight as a rod hair.

I guess we all want what we don't have. I have detested my hair and admired curls since the time I was a kid.

I own a hair straightener. I use it, but if you have the heat, make sure it's not on the highest it could go. What happened with your friends hair, you know, getting burnt, is probably because they put it on the highest heat, which is not good.

Just keep the flatiron at a decent temperature and it should be fine on your hair.

There are other ways to straighten as well, as someone stated above.

That way I am lucky I have wavy hair, I can curl them with my fingers and straighten then with a slight movement of fingers.Anyways I think permanent straightening is a better option as it lasts for quite long. One thing is for sure that hair do get damaged. At younger age the hair can handle certain treatments but as you grow, all these are not to be tried.

I'm curios as to why straightners (and this applies to most electrical and mechanical goods produced now) have a setting that damages your hair, surely it would be easier not to include this highest setting thus lowering the price of the straightner and reducing the risk that people will burn their hair.
