Skin Care Advice for Guys...Urgently Needed

Hey.

It's commonly thought that skin care issues are the domain of the fairer sex, but guys have skin problems too, even though they're reluctant to discuss it. Macho thing, I think, sort of like the old line about "Real men don't eat quiche...."

Anyway, I have a dry patch in between my eyebrows that is getting a bit raw and even bleeds a bit if I wash around it too often or use a too-rough face cloth. Does this happen to everyone? Is there a good, non-scented face cream I can use that will relieve this condition and at the same time not make smell, well, too girly?

Well a lot of the moisturizing products do tend to smell girly, but if you want a good home remedy I have heard that putting virgin olive oil or vaseline on will work quickly.

There is a moisturizer though, that doesn't have too much of a scent and works well that you might want to look into :

Thank you, Leighdu, for your most kind and informative reply. I'll look into that Skin Recovery Moisturizer at Paula's Choice ASAP, plus I'll also see if Nivea for Men has any products that will work, too. I'm not used to dry skin on my face, much less patches that bleed.

I buy Nivea for men for my fiance and its great . I would also just try sorbolene cream or vitamin E cream for dry patches.

My boyfriend uses Oxy all the time. He uses all of their products and it has really helped with his skin and clearing it up.

My partner goes in for regular scrubbing of his face.It makes him get rid of tanning but I am scared won't his skin become more sensitive.

If you look for products that are specifically labeled "for sensitive skins" they might suit you better, Fardreamer. Those types of moisturizers tend to be fragrance free, non-sting and overall more gentle. Soap alone can be very drying. I'd lay off the soap awhile and buy a sensitive skin cleanser and moisturizer to give your skin a chance to recover.

Acne on the Chest and Back

Hi Guys

I don't know how many of you suffer or have suffered from acne, but I have had awful chest acne for the last few years. I have been looking around for a cure and found this article regarding a product called Sensiclear? Has anyone used or heard of this product? I am going to give it a try and see how it goes anyway!
Wish me luck! ops:

Male Acne

Acne is a condition that can affect both teenagers and adults and does not discriminate between races and sex: A large percentage of individuals affected by acne are male, with a lower number of over the counter and prescription treatments for the condition being sought by men. This can be largely due to embarrassment or miseducation on the subject of acne, with many males suffering from the condition on other parts of the body such as the back and the chest: Acne on the chest is a common problem for men, and especially for adolescent boys. Often this problem can affect everyday activities and self-esteem, with sufferers often self-conscious and avoidant of taking their shirt off in public. Acne on the chest can also become very painful and if left untreated can result in serious skin damage, such as scarring.

Key Causes of Chest Acne
Sebaceous glands (oil glands) are larger and most numerous on the mid-back, chest and mid-section of the face. The biggest culprit of acne on the chest area is the Pilo sebaceous duct, or the hair shaft. Sebum from the oil glands flows up this hair shaft onto the top of the skin where it mixes with various other lipids and natural moisturizing factors that create the skin’s acid mantle and micro flora.
Propionbacteriun ( P Acnes Bacteria) in the right environment is part of the body’s normal flora and resides in and around the hair shaft. This converts the triglyceride oil into free fatty acids and it is these fatty acids that create the skin’s pH acid mantle. If the acid mantle is impaired in any way, the P Acnes Bacteria does not have its normal food source and starts to create problems in the hair shafts and the oil glands. This causes inflammation and infection, along with a fast cell turnover and an abnormality in the cell division: The cells keratinize too early and stick to the walls of the hair shaft. This results in blockages ( micro-comedones) and becomes the perfect breeding ground for P Acnes Bacteria, which attaches to the bottom of this mass, becomes inflamed and forms into a cyst or pimple.

This abnormality in skin functioning results in inflammation and infection and in the case of male acne on the chest (which occurs in the hair shaft) the condition develops into painful and embarrassing acne pustules and blackheads. Even though the acne is affecting a different part of the body, the cause and the cure are the same with an acne skin care program recommended to control and eliminate the condition. Treatment programs such as the SensiClear System are particularly effective due to the presence of the ingredient Salicylic Acid: Salicylic Acid forms the basis of the range, a naturally occurring plant sugar derived ingredient. The salicylic acid works against acne by causing cells to slough off the skin easily, preventing pores from clogging, a major contributor to acne, and allowing room for fresh, new skin growth. Independent tests have shown the SensiClear System to reduce acne blemishes by 60% during the first critical 3 days: 62% of large pimples are reduced in the first 72 hours along with 200% less blackheads.

Acne on the chest is a common concern for many men and can have numerous psychological side effects. Effective skin programs, such as the SensiClear system, can help the skin to function normal and significantly reduce the appearance and occurrence in men.

Further information regarding SensiClear is available on their website SensiClear

Well I encourage my husband to cleanse his face before going to bed but to my dismay he just do it once in a while but he bathe everyday and thinks that enough. I think Vaseline is good to use because it is unscented, good for men who wants to shun away from fragrances.
